Kelly Somers was selected in September 2009 as the new Partnership for the Delaware Estuary science fellow at Drexel University. Somers will continue her studies for two years as she works alongside PDE scientists to monitor and assess wetlands.
Somers joined the PDE in June of 2009 as a summer intern to assist with science and restoration projects like the Delaware Estuary Living Shoreline Initiative, a pilot project designed to stabilize the eroding shorelines of tidal marshes.
Somers worked for a year in the private sector after receiving her bachelors of science degree in environmental science from the University of Delaware in 2007. When she is not in the office, you can most likely find her at the New Jersey shore. She enjoys Phillies baseball, 60s music and her dog, Milo.
