The plants and
animals that live in, on, and around the Delaware Estuary are all living resources, and they are frequently seen and
enjoyed by many people. Living resources in the Estuary range from
microscopic plankton to the oysters and crabs that grace our dinner tables. Not to mention minnows, sturgeon,
ducks and even humpback whales. All naturally-occurring
species of plants and animals are part of the complex ecology
of the Estuary, and all are part of an integrated food chain, or
more precisely, a food web.
