Welcome to the new Science and Research module
at the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary. This site
is being developed as part of our efforts to strengthen
coordination of scientific activities within the Delaware
Estuary, taking advantage of the recent momentum generated
by the 2005 Delaware Estuary Science Conference and the
2004 reorganization of the Delaware Estuary Program. Our
plan is to build this site into a:
• Clearinghouse for local and regional scientific
information
• Calendar for relevant local, regional and national
scientific meetings and conferences
• Portal to scientific expertise related to the
Delaware Estuary and its watershed
• An online meetingplace for scientists and science-interested
individuals to discuss current topics
Our intention is to make this a valuable and user-friendly
point of reference for the latest science-themed information
and events. In time, we hope to network with other agencies,
academic institutions, non-governmental organizations
and other groups to build a directory of past, present,
and planned databases and reports. Please send us your:
• Suggestions and comments regarding the content,
format, and design of this website
• Listings of upcoming science-themed events,
workshops and meetings. These will be added to the “Announcements
and Meetings” section. Please supply links
where available.
• Grants-funding announcements. These will be
added on the "Funding Opportunities" Web page. Please supply us with links wherever available.
• News stories that relate to scientific discoveries,
reports and monitoring activities within the Estuary
and watershed. These items will be included in the “What’s
New” section. We welcome suggestions
for new material as well as links to published stories.
• Ideas for feature stories or notes related to
environmental and ecological scientists in the area,
such as announcements of novel or noteworthy grants
that have been awarded or publications. These items will be considered
for the “Features”
section, which will contain Estuary science articles,
a scientist spotlight section, and hot papers and reports.
We welcome both suggestions for new material and links to published stories.
