Karen Forst

Coordinator of Grants

Karen Forst is PDE’s Coordinator of Grants. In this role, assists with writing and managing grants and identifying new funding opportunities. She brings 15-plus years of grant writing and management experience to the position.

Forst rejoined the PDE staff in 2018. She had worked here from 2006 to 2014 as the Development Director and the Director of Institutional Giving.

Before her return, Forst was Director of Grants and Fundraising for Laura Bishop Communications. She also worked for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) , where she was principal environmental specialist for the Bureau of Environmental Analysis and Restoration.

Forst has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

Forst lives in Greenwich, New Jersey with her husband and two children. She is a member and co-captain of a dragon boat racing team. She also is a troop leader and cookie manager for her local Girl Scout service unit. In her free time, Forst enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
