The Schuylkill River is used for many purposes, including recreation, natural habitat and as a source of drinking water for more than 1.5 million people throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. Its watershed includes parts of 11 counties and a total of almost 2,000 square miles, so it plays a critical role in determining the quality of water throughout the entire Delaware Estuary. The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary is involved in two major efforts
to protect water quality in the Schuylkill River Watershed. They are:
A partnership of organizations and agencies
working together to protect water quality
in the Schuylkill River Watershed
A $2 million investment in water-quality protection
