In 2004, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary was awarded a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Targeted Watershed Initiative Program to complete a selection of projects that demonstrate how water pollution can be managed on a watershed basis. Elements of the initiative include studies, demonstrations, and education and outreach activities. With more than 40 projects and a dozen collaborating organizations and agencies involved (click here for list of partners), the Schuylkill Watershed Initiative Grant provides an excellent demonstration of a cooperative approach to coordinated water-quality protection efforts in a large watershed.
Through this initiative, we are working with the Schuylkill Action Network and local partner-organizations to implement on-the-ground projects resulting in positive effects on water quality in the Schuylkill River Watershed.
