By inviting a Partnership for the Delaware
Estuary specialist to your classroom, your students
will learn about the biggest environmental concern in the Delaware Estuary today: stormwater runoff pollution. Students will be given the opportunity
to "pollute" the land
(a three-dimensional Enviroscape™ coastal model) with simulated, every day contaminants, such as pesticides and fertilizers, vehicle fluids, animal wastes,
and debris, just to name a few.
Sure, the water in the model looks clean
enough to drink now, but watch out for those rain clouds! "Rain"
from the spray bottle washes pollutants into the rivers,
estuary, bay and ocean on this highly effective
model. The entire presentation lasts about 40 minutes and covers
everything from "What is an estuary?" to "What
can we do better to protect our estuary?" This program
is available for $50 to all classrooms
in the Delaware Estuary. To schedule your classroom visit, please call Program Specialist, Dee Ross, at (800) 445-4935, extension 106. |
