Storm Drain Marking

One of the greatest threats to our region’s water supply is stormwater runoff pollution. This occurs whenever rainwater washes over land and collects pollutants like motor oil, fertilizers, and litter. Too often, these get carried into nearby storm drains or directly into streams and rivers.

You can reduce this pollution by marking storm drains with a “No Dumping” message. By doing so, you will encourage pedestrians to resist using their sewers as trash cans and oil dumps. Medallions take only minutes to apply and they last for years.

The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary can provide supplies to any volunteer and any organization, and these include: instruction manuals, safety vests, medallions, adhesive, and educational tip cards. We can also provide training that will make it easy for you to coordinate volunteers as they hit the streets to spread the word about pollution and its prevention. Volunteers can even hand out tip cards to residents and businesses explaining the medallion's all-important message: “Yo! No Dumping, Drains to River!”

Those interested in volunteering can contact Dee Ross at (800) 445-4935, extension 106, or DRoss@DelawareEstuary.org. The deadline for enrollment March 14, and supplies are going fast. To ensure ready-made kits are available for your group, please mail or fax us the registration form below, or call our headquarters.
