Laura Whalen

In early 2008, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary added Laura Whalen its growing staff as a restoration specialist working to combat stormwater runoff pollution and improve water quality in the tidal Delaware River Watershed.

Whalen’s chief responsibility is to coordinate the restoration of native wildlife habitats on the properties of large landowners, such as schools and corporate sponsors.  She will also work to further the nonprofit’s goals for the National Vegetation Classification System in parts of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Prior to the Partnership, Whalen worked for the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control as an environmental scientist in the Water Resources Division.  She holds a bachelor of science degree in environmental science from the University of Delaware and is currently finishing her masters degree in plant and soil science.  In her free time, Whalen enjoys biking, camping, and traveling with her husband, Jon, whenever the opportunity arises.

To contact Whalen, please call (302) 655-4990, extension 107, or e-mail LWhalen@DelawareEstuary.org.
