Karen Johnson

In 2006, Karen Johnson joined the staff of the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, a National Estuary Program serving portions of Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. As director of development, her main duties involve grant writing, grant management and fundraising for the non-profit organization.

Previously she spent seven years working for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, most recently as a principal environmental specialist in its Division of Watershed Management. And prior to that, Johnson worked as a site inspector with the Freehold Soil Conservation District in Manalapan, New Jersey. Since 2002 she has served on the board of trustees for the Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation.

Johnson graduated from Richard Stockton College in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies. She then earned her master’s degree in environmental science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in January of 2006. Johnson was born and raised in Gloucester County, New Jersey, and now lives in Marlton where she lives with her son, Alexander.
